An Ching reading is done by casting coins or yarrow stalks into 6 lines. These six lines are called a "hexagram". Each one of these six lines is either a Yin which is the feminine force or sometimes called the passive force, or the Yang which is the masculine force or the active force. After the hexagram is made by your ching oracle it is looked up in the I Ching to find a passage that describes all six lines. There are 64 different hexagrams each one can be broken down into small groups of just three lines called the "trigrams". These lines can be old and can be ready to change.
